INTERDISCIPLINARY DIVISION OF AERONAUTICAL AND AVIATION ENGINEERING
 
Assistant Technical Officer (Ref. 19050209-E)

Duties
 
The appointee will be required to:
 
(a) support academic staff in conducting laboratory classes;

(b) develop equipment and instruments for laboratory as directed and involve in the new equipment installation and training sessions;

(c) provide training and instructions to users on the proper use of the equipment in the laboratory;

(d) receive visitors to the laboratory and demonstrate the use of equipment in the laboratory;

(e) provide technical support on the use of the equipment and administrative support to the laboratory;

(f) maintain the laboratory equipment and facilities;

(g) assist in research, consultancy activities and projects for staff and students as directed;
 
(h) provide technical services and/or IT support to staff and students of the Division;

(i) conduct routine maintenance of the computing facilities and IT equipment of the Division;

(j) assemble kit plane and keep proper record of the assembling procedures;

(k) provide support on University and departmental levels of health and safety policy implementation; and

(l) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Division or his delegates.

Qualifications
 
Applicants should have:
 
(a) a recognised degree or above in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or relevant disciplines;
 
(b) some post-qualification experience, preferably in fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, electronics, avionics or aviation engineering;

(c) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;

(d) strong analytical skills, good interpersonal and communication skills; and

(e) self-motivation and the ability to work independently.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.  Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
