Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Associate Practice Group (APG) is recognised globally and is the market leader in the US. It is MLA’s intention to expand this group over the next few years in Asia.

The APG team provides valued law firm clients primarily with ad/search and contingent search services, using search methodology and web-advertising to recruit the best and most suitable lawyers in the market. Where appropriate, we collaborate with our U.S. and U.K. offices to obtain cross border candidates.  A substantial part of our practice involves counseling associate candidates on how to achieve their career goals.  We are committed to our candidates’ overall career progression over the span of their legal professional life.  Moreover, MLA has special expertise advising candidates about U.S. law firms. Our consultants remain constantly updated on local and global opportunities, including career advancement through working overseas. This includes assisting Hong Kong, PRC, Singapore, Australia and Tokyo-based lawyers gain career-advancing experience in the U.S. and U.K. Our team in Asia is well-versed in issues concerning foreign re-qualification, relocation and expatriate benefits.

Responsibilities

The APG Search Consultant will have responsibility for:

  • Working with MLA Law Firm recruiters and Regional Manager to maintain strong law firm client relationships and to develop relationships with new law firms
  • Working closely with clients to identify their recruitment needs and to become our clients’ primary search partner as new roles materialise
  • Using the MLA database to identify and source appropriate candidates for specific roles
  • Executing and closing contingent and retained search assignments
  • Identifying roles where advertising, ad-search or retained search is appropriate and viable and promoting this solution to clients
  • Assisting with developing a strong database of candidates
  • Constantly developing personal market knowledge, and sharing market intelligence with the APG and across MLA practices (In House & Partner)
  • Meeting candidates who are appropriate for our client needs and learning about their current firm’s strengths and challenges
  • Offering excellence in dealings and communications with candidates and clients to instill trust in both
  • Recognizing that your personal business dealings reflect and impact all of MLA’s business dealings

The package for this position is competitive and commensurate with skills and experience. It includes a base salary and graduated commission plan.
