The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority is a statutory body established by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2008, responsible for developing the West Kowloon Cultural District.

Job title:     Assistant Manager, Communications and Public Affairs

Department:     Communications and Public Affairs Department

Duration:         12 months                                     

Location:  Tsim Sha Tsui – China Hong Kong City Office

You will be responsible for:

• implementing stakeholder engagement initiatives so as to build, enhance and protect the brand reputation of the West Kowloon Cultural District and the Authority;
• monitoring public affairs issues, in particular the political and social issues in Hong Kong, arts and culture related matters in international markets, and to prepare corporate messages in response to issues if required;
• coordinating with internal key functions and government departments on LegCo joint subcommittee meetings and related matters;
• assisting in message development, stakeholder communications and media handling in event of major issues or crisis;
• managing a range of corporate communications materials and announcements including the production of annual report for the Authority, the Board and relevant Committees appointment, management biographies, company backgrounders, etc.
• preparing background research on current local and international issues, papers, speeches, letters and presentation materials if required;
• organising corporate and media events including delegation visits; coordinating with external key stakeholders including government organisations, District Councils, media, political groups and community groups; and
• executing ad-hoc communications projects when required.

You should:

• possess a recognised university degree in Public Affairs, Journalism, Communications or related discipline;
• have at least 5 years of relevant and solid experience in public affairs, media relations, crisis communications and issues management, corporate communications, and internal communications;
• possess a thorough understanding of political, social and economic environment and issues in Hong Kong; sound knowledge of PRC political and business environment is a plus;
• have exposure and experiences in dealing with government, political and local community groups;
• possess strong interpersonal and analytical skills, be a good team player and able to multi-task and meet tight deadlines and work under pressure;
• be passionate about arts and culture; and
• have excellent spoken and written English and Chinese; be proficient in Putonghua.
