Job Description

The Materials Buyer is the responsible for the purchasing of materials to support the production-schedule. He/she will manage suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, and supporting material/ product-level revisions, while managing inventory-levels to prevent shortages and maximum turns. Will work with cross-functional team (Eng, Ops, Finance, CS, GCM, etc) in support of operations-management. Will be part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, by utilizing, monitoring & developing the supply-chain to meet internal & customer-requirements.

Your tasks:

  • Responsible for the purchasing of materials process from placing the purchase order to suppliers, following up the order status to delivering material to the site in order to support the production-schedule.
  • Place purchase-orders in a timely manner, as required by the forecast and production-schedules.
  • Follow-up on outstanding purchase-orders, develop and internally communicate recovery-planning, to ensure timely resolution, communication and mitigation of future potential problems.
  • Expedite & defer PO as required, based on backlog / inventory-changes.
  • Manage suppliers to improve quality, control inventories and ensure timely-flow of materials.
  • Solve day-to-day quality/ scheduling issues with suppliers.
  • Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns, ASN issue, inbound arrangement and quality-problems with suppliers.
  • Monitor & report shortages and supplier-performance.
  • Participate in supplier-reviews, evaluation/ scorecards & corrective-actions.
  • Effectively interact cross-functionality with Engineering, Production & Finance.
  • Prepare & analyze reporting as needed.
  • Develop thorough working-knowledge of assigned commodities and associated supplier base.
  • Ensure and promote compliance to company procurement policies and procedures.

Your qualifications, experience & skills:

  • Degree-level and/or equivalent work-experience.
  • Minimum 2 years in similar role, in a production environment.
  • Working-knowledge of ERP/ MRP systems, INFOR preferred.
  • Expert applied knowledge of forecasting, MRP, transportation, supply-chain, bills of material, inventory-management and warehouse disciplines.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively interact at various levels of the organization, with a logical and organized approach.
  • Ability to work independently, display initiative and solve problems with proficiency.
  • Must be ‘hands-on’ with strong analytical-skills and good problem-solving skills, with an attention to detail.
  • Strong ERP/ MRP system knowledge and proficient with Excel.
  • Must speak English at a business-level.
