Job Description

Purpose & general responsibilities of the position:

You will act as the Ocean Product Manager and be responsible for the governance of the Product and driving the Ocean Product development, including and not limited to the following:

 

Specific responsibilities of the position:

 

Product Management

 

  • Support the development of the annual Ocean Operating Plan
  • Drive overall Ocean performance through monthly review and regular analysis of the countries business plan, volume and business result
  • Continuously drive margin improvement across countries and districts to meet the overall targets through various product initiatives
  • Lead and drive the end to end pricing for RFQ and business opportunities, especially tender launched through Global Tender Management channel
  • Create visibility and dive into the tendering process of the individual including negotiation rhythm to prepare upfront the product strategy 
  • Lead and facilitate specific customer volume conversion within the networks to support delivering the volume commitment
  • Close collaborate with stakeholders including Sector Trade Managers and District Product Manager on analysis and improve the tendered business profitability

Product Development

 

  • Actively study customer needs and market trends to identify potential new product offerings through joint customer meetings with commercial owners
  • Constantly review and upgrade the product offerings to fit for the agile market condition
  • Create and implement the Asia Ocean Development Plan to help drive and enrich customer value, improve profitability and grow Damco market share
  • Integrate the development plan to the corresponding Commercial and Trade business plan and help advance achieving it
  • Package and communicate the “products” to the network, including commercial organization and Ocean freight community. Owning the process and monitoring on the executions  
  • Engage directly with customers to develop and solid Damco product value proposition, support business development together with the commercial teams
  • Create alignment with Centre on product definitions and build collateral marketing to strengthen Damco product positions in the marketplace
  • Strengthen the product competitiveness, preliminary the local tariff and landside services, through continuously review, benchmark and maintain the market proofed local charges including haulages

 

Other

 

  • Assist the Sector Ocean Product Manager to analyze the ocean freight operations including yield management (adapt to the Company’s operating systems)
  • Assist in preparing analytical reports including ad-hoc queries and projects

 

Specific requirements for the position:

 

  • Minimum 8 years of related experience in a forwarding or logistic company, focusing on ocean/shipping industry
  • Fluent in Mandarin, Good in written & oral English
  • Solid experiences in Ocean Freight’s operations in NVOCC business
  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills and negotiation skills
