Job Description
Title: Media Relations Senior Specialist
Report to: Group Head of PR
Work location: Hong Kong
Key Responsibilities
- Based on Group messaging, this role crafts and disseminates the region-specific messaging about the Group’s business which – supported by evidence - allows the Group to take ownership of its unique positioning in the business industry and in people’s minds across South East Asia.
- Based on the Group strategy, the role creates overall Public Relations Tactics in the region; He/she converts tactics into the Execution Plan and Activity Calendar and makes inputs into the Group’s PR budgeting.
- He/she analyzes the trends in overall public perception in a region and, specifically, the changes in general public’s attitude towards our industry sector in order to constantly optimize Group’s reputation management.
- He/she builds and maintains the direct relationships and indirect rapport to key international and regional media and regional social media influencers.
- He/she assures there is a full coherence and consistency of different messaging which is sent through multiple communication channels to varied Group’s audiences (including customers, prospects, key stakeholders and employees).
- He/she supports leveraging CSR projects for public relations communications and supports the Group PR team for combatting the crises.
- Based on the Group’s Policy Documents he/she prepares for Reputational Crises Response Strategy in the region.
Required functional knowledge, experience and skills
- Master (University) Degree; majored in Journalism, Human or Political Sciences or Economics; education from a foreign or internationally-recognized school is an advantage
- 5 years’ experience in Public Affairs (Public Relations, Communications) or Public Advocacy or Media (length of professional experience can be exceptionally substituted with an outstanding talent)
- Established media contacts locally and regionally is not mandatory but will be a big advantage
- Proven vast experience with media communications / social media communications in the region
- Proven track record in executing the influence over target groups in the public domain (gained publicity; owned publicity; public affairs advocacy; CSR strategies); experience in crisis resolution.
- Broad understanding of corporate finance (BS, P&L statements, profitability reports etc.) and of financial services (experience goes beyond being fully financially literate).
- Experience from an international company’s communications is an advantage
- Good understanding of data analytics relevant for Public Affairs and Public Relations industry
- Independent thinker who does not wait for instructions before he/she responds to changing environment
- Committed, passionate, ambitious
- Speaks fluent Mandarin and English with excellent writing skills
- Able to travel both regionally and globally
