Job Description

Our Business Partner, Great Bay Bio, is now recruiting Cell Culture/Cell Line Development Scientist. Great Bay Bio is a biotech company taking advantages of the great opportunities and fast-growing market in Great Bay Area for biotech contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), and for that, Great bay Bio combines biologics development platform with artificial intelligence and automation technology for our own and other companies’ products.

Cell Culture Development

  1. Perform and document experiments at bench-scale (shake flasks, AMBR, 3L reactors, etc.) to support development of mammalian Cell Culture processes for recombinant protein production. Assist in experiments supporting the development and implementation of a closed system, scale-up, recovery, and purification processes;

  2. Perform data analysis and troubleshooting of experiments and lab equipment;

  3. Support tech transfer of products and processes to ensure smooth transition from process development into GMP manufacturing;

  4. Appropriately document experimental procedures and results according to established guidelines. For cGMP manufacturing, ensure documentation is being filled out correctly, training is current, and all Quality requirements are being followed;

  5. Responsible for maintaining quality standards to meet cGMP requirements, CFR’s, and internal company policies directly related to the manufacturing process.

    Cell Line Development

  1. Leading projects relating to mammalian cell line development operations;
  2. Responsible for cell line development and cell culture activities, such as growth, maintenance and screening of candidate cell lines for cell banking, assay development and cell characterization;
  3. Research and implementation of new assays for cell characterization, using PCR, flow cytometry, Western Blot, Immunofluorescence techniques, among others;
  4. Leading technology transfer processes and working cross functionally between Process Development and Manufacturing departments;
  5. Response to direction as provided and following established maintenance of notebook records and documentation standards;
  6. Identify opportunities for developing new research projects of value to the company.

Requirements:

Cell Culture Development:

  • Ph.D./MS degree in biochemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, or related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.

Cell Line Development:

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Biotechnology, Animal Biology, Bioengineering or equivalent with 1-3+ years of relevant lab experience in human/mammalian/avian cell and molecular biology, or related field;
  • Strong scientific and engineering expertise developing mammalian cell line optimization and mammalian expression technologies for the generation of monoclonal antibody and recombinant protein therapeutic products;
  • Experience leading projects relating to manufacturing deviations, change control, process optimization, technical troubleshooting, and manufacturing process changes; Experience working with a variety of primary and established cell lines. Experience with suspension cultures is preferred;
  • Lab experience with techniques such as flow cytometry, PCR, Western blot and immunofluorescence. Experience with gene editing techniques such as CRISPR is preferred;
