The team

As part of the regional team you will play an integral role in helping firms meet Trust and Growth ambitions, promoting consistency and collaboration, so that KPMG becomes the Clear Choice for clients and talent. This role presents an exciting opportunity to build relationships with senior leaders across member firms throughout the Asia Pacific region.

 

The role

The role is tasked with helping to transform the way KPMG communicates with key stakeholders, translating our global strategy into regional execution, alignment and engagement. Primarily focused on internal and external communications, the successful candidate will need to work closely with the regional team and member firms in ASPAC – building a regional identity, developing leadership communications, promoting executive visibility and thought leadership, supporting public policy and citizenship as well as key involvement in internal events, such as the quarterly leadership meetings and the bi-annual ASPAC partners' conference.

The role will have a dual reporting line – primary solid reporting line to the ASPAC Chairman’s Office and secondary dotted reporting line to the Global Corporate Affairs Team for alignment on global strategy and consistent dissemination of information and collateral.

 

Key activities

To develop, manage and execute the Communications plan for the ASPAC region that is aligned to the global strategy (80%).

This will primarily involve:

- Building a regional identity and promoting executive visibility for the Regional Chairman and Regional Leadership, both in respect to internal and external communications. This extends to mapping and engaging with key internal and external stakeholder groups, promoting flagship events and thought leadership as well as recognition for regional awards (for example, Global CEO Outlook, WEF-Davos, Asian Flagship events)
- Supporting ASPAC communication channels, such as the ASPAC portal / website and leadership events, most notably the ASPAC Board and Management meetings (quarterly), ASPAC Regional Team Meetings (quarterly) and the ASPAC Partners' Conference (bi-annual)
- Researching, drafting & producing a range of regional stories for publication across online channels, intranet, email, social media and video platforms (for example, regional client wins, collaboration, best practices, global strategy execution milestones, highlighting the C25 talent and leadership development programs)
- Supporting the internal communication of key events and conferences, including driving the creation of multimedia content, including video – particularly at key events, aligned with social and external channels where appropriate
- Working with colleagues in Global Corporate Affairs and the ASPAC Chairman's Office to ensure that the global strategy is communicated consistently across the ASPAC region, tailoring the materials and messaging for the Asian Market and cultural differences as needed, working with member firm Heads of Corporate Affairs, Communications and Marketing to deliver an integrated and consistent approach as appropriate
- Establishing and measuring both output and impact communication KPIs

 

2. To support KPMG’s trust, reputation and brand protection agenda (20%).

This will involve:

- Providing communications guidance and effective one-to-one support to ASPAC leaders on raising their internal and external profiles
- Addressing regional geopolitical sensitivities and working to ensure that KPMG speaks with one voice across the region
- Working with colleagues in Global Corporate Affairs and the ASPAC Chairman's Office to mobilise around issues and crisis management as and when they arise in the region
- Supporting regulatory and public policy announcements, most notably in the ASPAC region as needed (e.g. audit rotation)
- Support for the development and delivery of a consistent approach to corporate citizenship
- Liaising with other teams within and outside of ASPAC and Global to ensure joined up communication cross-border and cross-function as needed
- Delivering communications on-time and to-budget

 

The Person

The successful candidate must be able to operate in a matrix organisation and have the ability to influence the actions of the organisation's most senior business leaders in the region. Strong and proven technical internal communications knowledge must be combined with resilience, cultural awareness and diplomacy to achieve stakeholder engagement.

 

Skills and experience

- A communications professional with over 8 years of experience working in communications within a professional service or corporate environment
- Strong and proven relationship building skills, able to hold their own with senior leaders
- Ability to work under pressure, be action oriented and outcome focused, manage numerous projects simultaneously across multiple time zones and deliver within set timeframes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, working to editorial and brand guidelines, including experience in leadership communications, such as drafting talking points, scripts and articles from leader's point of view
- Experience delivering high impact communications across the full range of channels including: digital, print, online and face-to-face and media: film, written, social
- Basic video filming, production and editing knowledge would be beneficial
- Experience of online platforms and technology such as Microsoft SharePoint and PowerPoint
- Cultural awareness and understanding is essential. Previous experience of working in an international organization in a regional role would be beneficial
- Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with both the most junior and the most senior of people
- Previous experience of implementing strategy or organizational change would be an advantage
- Excellent English, with Chinese or other Asian language skills an advantage
- Able and available to travel internationally on a range of 20-50%
