Assistant Project Manager (Building Services) (Ref: 19061412-IE)

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) assist in the management, administration, and monitoring of capital works and alterations and additions (A&A) works from inception to completion with an emphasis on the control of project costs, programme progress and quality;

(b) assist in the feasibility study of new capital projects and A&A works projects according to the University’s requirements;

(c) supervise and co-ordinate the work of consultants and contractors on various projects;

(d) co-ordinate and liaise with service units and user departments of the University, the Government and external bodies on capital projects and A&A works projects;

(e) assist in establishing the quality and statutory standards in capital projects and A&A works and co-ordinate with the Facilities Management Office and the Health, Safety and Environment Office to ensure the standards are met;

(f) supervise technical staff; and

(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have a recognised degree in Building Services, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline plus at least five years of solid and relevant experience in building services engineering design and project management;

(b) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;

(c) be able to work independently; and

(d) have good organizational, communication, interpersonal and project management skills.

Preference will be given to candidates with a professional qualification.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.  Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
