Overview of the job

Wavemaker is an agency of GroupM, the world’s largest media investment company and are a part of WPP. In fact, we are responsible for one in every three ads you see globally. We are currently looking for a Planning Manager to join us. You will be responsible for developing and driving projects and campaigns for assigned clients.

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the Business Director.

In this role, your goals will be:
In three months:

  • Receive great feedback from co-workers and key client contacts as a result of strong communication both internally and externally

In six months:

  • Have the Media Manager role under control and become a trusted advisor to the clients and reporting Director by properly justifying recommendations, strong timeline management and delivering outcomes

In 12 months:

  • Building up team capability to develop more innovation and integrated media solutions, and look at how campaigns can be driven by content, social media marketing, programmatic digital, mobile, search, etc.


What you day job looks like at Wavemaker:

  • Develop and drive projects/campaigns for assigned brands. This will include the ability to pursue and persuade clients on new planning approaches/innovations
  • Work with key media partners for implementation planning and negotiations
  • Understand the client’s market position to achieve optimal negotiation for clients
  • Presentation of implementation ideas to clients, across different platforms
  • Set viable objectives and KPIs, and recommend/develop measurement methodology against all briefs
  • Work with the team on competitive reporting and analysis
  • Ensure projects/campaigns are tracked and measured based on agreed KPIs and media efficiencies
  • Facilitate cross team learning and knowledge sharing
  • Develop and build relationships with clients, be the trusted advisor on account requirements
  • Work with internal specialist resources and group resources


Minimum qualifications:

  • Degree relating to marketing or business will be preferable and you have been working with media and communication planning for several years
  • You are a team player with good interpersonal skills and you thrive in an energetic and fast paced environment.
  • An affinity for numbers and experience in Excel is highly desired.
  • Min. 4 years of experience in media agency, including client-side or media owner capacity
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders, e.g. suppliers, advertising/marketing agencies, media owners and internal specialist resources
  • Competent in communications planning, media planning and buying across all platforms with a good understanding and working knowledge of both traditional and new media
  • Strong analytical mind, good flair of creativity and with an eye for details
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
