Preqin is currently seeking a candidate to join its research team in its Hong Kong office.

Preqin is the leading source of data and analysis for the alternative assets industry, and provides numerous leading products and services covering private equity, hedge funds, private real estate, infrastructure, private debt and natural resources. Our clients include fund managers, investment banks, legal firms, institutional investors, financial advisors, asset managers and placement agents.

Preqin is also a prominent supplier of bespoke data and analysis to both industry and mainstream press, regularly appearing in publications such as the Financial Times and Wall Street Journal. We maintain numerous online databases, produce high level financial publications and reports, and undertake research projects for clients.

We are a privately-owned firm headquartered in the City of London with additional offices in New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Manila, Hong Kong and Guangzhou.

The Role:

The successful candidate will fit within Preqin’s research team, and take on a role primarily focused on building relationships with, researching and updating information on Greater China-based institutional investors/fund managers.

Daily duties include understanding and incorporating data regarding alternative investments through various sources into our online CRM database in an accurate and concise manner. Communicating and maintaining relationships with institutional investors/fund managers regularly to encourage them to provide us information will be necessary.

Research Analysts are responsible for the maintenance and growth of Preqin’s investor databases and products, and will have the opportunity to contribute towards the production of Preqin’s leading financial publications when required. They also work with Preqin’s clients to provide relevant data and analysis on an ad-hoc basis.

Full training relevant to the role will be provided.

Key duties will include:

• Updating online databases with key financial information, statistics and analysis on which our clients depend on
• Maintaining relationships with institutional investors and investment managers via telephone and email communications
• Conducting web-based research for further information of any given institutional investor or fund managers.
• Communicating and coordinating with the wider team to ensure profiles are updated accurately and in a timely manner, and to convey issues and solutions
• Using computer-based business applications, including Microsoft Excel, to analyse large data sets and to control for quality and accuracy
• Candidates may be required to write blogs and research reports occasionally, perform analysis and generate reports for clients on an ad-hoc basis
• Completing other tasks as/when required

Candidate’s job requirements:

• Enthusiastic and confident individuals with an eye for detail
• Strong communications skills necessary to build relationships with high-level executives
• Fluent in English and native or professional proficiency in Mandarin
• Excellent written English
• Ideally Bachelor’s Degree holders with one year of relevant experience, university graduates with finance-related background are also welcome
• Willing to take initiatives with analytical skills

Other Requirements:
