Job Description

KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER OFFICE

The Knowledge Transfer Office serves as the bridge between the University and the community for the transfer of knowledge, technology, expertise, skills and capabilities in campus-wide disciplines. The office actively protects and commercialises intellectual property rights (IPR) developed at the University, runs the Business Entrepreneurship Support & Training programme, and supports knowledge transfer activities undertaken by Faculties and Departments in the University.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with team members in managing and monitoring the intellectual property (IP)  portfolio of the University;
  • Arrange and organise regular meetings for the Patent Vetting Committee for internal patent application assessment;
  • Coordinate with internal and external parties in arranging IP seminars or training to promote the University’s IPRs;
  • Foster partnerships between HKBU and the commercial and industrial sectors, and support HKBU staff in knowledge transfer (STEM and non-STEM), both locally and in the Greater Bay Area;
  • Assist in developing strategies and implementing the training modules on IP;
  • Conduct patentability search and assessment on new inventions submitted to the Office;
  • Draft patent specification according to the patent filing requirements of the jurisdictions that are concerned;
  • Perform other duties as assigned; and
  • Occasional business travel is required.

Requirements:

  • A good Bachelor’s degree, preferably a higher degree, in Science, Biochemistry or related disciplines;
  • At least five years of work experience in IP or technology transfer fields;
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, proficient in Putonghua would be an advantage;
  • A good team player with positive attitude, flexibility and adaptability;
  • Excellent project management and business writing skills; and
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
