Job Description
The Law Society wishes to recruit an enthusiastic and responsible accountant to fill the position of Monitoring Accountant in the Compliance Department.
The primary duties of the Monitoring Accountant, who will report to the Assistant Director, Conduct, will be:
- to visit law firms to conduct inspections into their accounting procedures to ensure compliance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules;
- to provide assistance to statutory Inspectors appointed by the Council in conducting inspections;
- to give seminars to lawyers and law firms’ accounting staff; and
- to provide assistance in statutory interventions.
The successful applicant must have:-
- two years’ post-qualification experience as a certified public accountant;
- good command of written and spoken English and be able to prepare written reports and give oral presentations in English;
- computer knowledge with good skills in MS Office; and
- strong communication and interpersonal skills, organized, efficient and independent.
Applicants with a working knowledge of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and experience in the preparation of reports under the Accountant’s Report Rules are preferred.
