Job Description

Responsibilities:

 

  • This position is the key person in the QDS-Client relationship and is responsible for leading the program team in implementation of the program in a manner that exceeds our client’s expectations
  • Responsible for management of assigned programs through all phases of manufacturing including detailed design, tooling, EVT, DVT, pre-production and production ramp to ensure a program is completed on time, within or under budget, meets product requirements and exceeds client expectations
  • Drives the day-to-day program activities to meet the overall program objectives with a heavy focus on ensuring build readiness and execution
  • Ensures factory readiness and manufacturing processes leading to sustaining development and introduction of new products
  • Interfaces directly with clients as the main point of contact for all activities and communication related to the assigned program and ensure that all issues are handled professionally, promptly and proactively.
  • Responsible for program scheduling, task tracking, issue tracking, risk management, budget management and resource management.
  • Leads regular internal and external team meetings to review weekly tasks, issues and risks.
  • Writes weekly status reports.
  • Work closely with engineers, stakeholders and decision-makers from client, vendor and internal teams to facilitate requirements, communication, decision making and issue resolution.
  • Understand the client’s requirements and implement manufacturing systems, processes and tools that meet or exceed established quality, cost and engineering goals.
  • Identifies and pro-actively mitigates risks in the program
  • Be a pro-active leader and anticipate engineering, manufacturing, quality, process and supply chain issues and follow-through to identify and implement solutions.
  • Oversee and ensure implementation of ECR/ECO process.
  • Closely work with and manage the CM/ODM and vendors to ensure they meet quality and schedule requirements.
  • On-site support at manufacturing and vendor sites as required.
  • Support supply chain activities to source, audit, qualify, recommend and select component suppliers, toolers, vendors and manufacturing partners
  • Support negotiation of commercial and manufacturing terms with new vendors and partners.
  • On-going relationship management of strategic vendors and partners.
  • Must be able to work on and lead multiple projects in parallel
  • Must be able to successfully work with internal and external cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, PD engineers, SQE teams, vendors and the client.

 

Requirements:

  • BS, ME/EE Degree Required
  • Strong technical or engineering background
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with manufacturing program management responsibilities including team leadership, project scheduling, task tracking, resource management, budget management, vendor management, billing, reporting and communication.
  • Experience working with off-shore manufacturers and vendors
  • Experience with high-cosmetic consumer electronics, portable devices, medical devices, plastic injection molding and UL, CE, FCC regulations a plus.
  • Demonstrated track record of interacting with multinational, diverse, highly technical cross-functional teams including industrial designers, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, manufacturing and QA contributors.
  • Demonstrated successful completion and launch of numerous manufacturing programs.
  • Detailed knowledge of the product development process as well as a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, systems, tools and strategies
  • Must be service oriented, flexible, highly organized, a good problem solver, with a bias toward action and have excellent time management.
  • Must demonstrate independence and critical problem solving skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented, hard-working and demonstrate high integrity and a can-do attitude.
  • Enjoys working in a small office environment with smart and fun colleagues.
  • Prior experiences in consulting for a design, engineering or manufacturing services company a plus.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast paced environment where priorities and tasks can change with short notice. Must demonstrate proactive mindset and approach to new situations and problems.
  • Exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, strong follow-through, and the ability to focus on strategic agendas, re-adjusting priorities as needed
  • Frequent travel within China and other countries in the region expected.
  • Experience with MS Excel, MS Word and MS Project required.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin. Cantonese is a plus.
