Job Description

COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE

Manager, Communications and Public Affairs (Public Affairs) (Ref. 19062111-E3)

Duties

The appointee will work in Public Affairs Division of the Office which takes care of the media and stakeholder relations activities, as well as issues and crisis management for the University.  The appointee will be required to:

(a) prepare press materials including media invitation, media releases and presentation for media activities;

(b) explore media exposure opportunities in regional and international media;

(c) provide advice and support for media relations activities for individual faculties/departments/offices;
 
(d) keep abreast of important policies and development related to higher education and update the senior management;

(e) assist in developing and implementing stakeholder engagement strategies and plans;

(f) assist in the management of issues and crisis; and

(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Office or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have a recognised degree in Communications, Languages and / or Journalism with at least eight years of relevant experience, preferably with journalistic background;

(b) have excellent presentation and writing skills in both Chinese and English;

(c) be a good team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and

(d) be able to work in a fast-paced and multi-cultural environment.

Candidates whose first language is English or those who excel in English only are also most welcome.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written language proficiency test.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.  Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
