Job Description

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (“HKADC”) plans to set up an arts information centre (AIC) in the future and a small scale provision will be put on trial of service in the Tai Po Arts Centre in 2019. The AIC in Tai Po will serve as a reference library to provide access to selected records and publications of HKADC’s proactive and granted projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Manager to assist in the AIC development.

 

Responsibilities:

  • To assist the overall strategic planning and management of the AIC
  • To develop the policy and services of the AIC, which include the cataloguing system, circulation service, the information service, donation policy
  • To offer regular liaison with external vendors, artists, institutions and collaborates, and to build comprehensive archival records of ADC
  • To provide technical and logistic support to the department

 

Requirements:

  • A recognized degree plus a professional qualification in Librarianship, Library and Information Science, Archives Management or equivalent
  • A minimum of 4 yearspost-qualification relevant experience in library service, familiar with cataloguing practice and procedure
  • Good knowledge of automated library system, cataloguing, databases and records management. Previous experience in setting up an archival center or library, knowledge of copyright and digital rights management will be advantage
  • Strong understanding of latest development in library usage, key developments and future in archival, reference or research libraries
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and good interpersonal skills
  • Good management skills with proven administrative ability and IT skills
  • A strong sense of responsibility, well organized and self-motivated
