Job Summary 
Reporting into the Chief Financial Officer for Asia Pacific, this role provides critical support in the leadership and management of the Hong Kong Finance function, with full responsibility for the HK reporting function (including Group, management, statutory and regulatory) as well as indirect oversight across the HK finance operations and credit control activities which are mainly located in Singapore.

This role also involves supporting the CFO (APAC) with regional duties across APAC, including HK and regional projects, budgeting/planning and/or preparing, analyzing and delivering regional reports to senior stakeholders across APAC or to Group.

Job Duties

• Ensure a strong financial control environment across HK finance team, setting up a control environment that is robust and fit-for-purpose in order to mitigate the risk of financial misstatements or errors
• Oversight and review of quarterly and annual regulatory reports, ensuring all required deliverables are prepared and submitted on an accurate and timely basis
• Continuously strive for improvements via operational efficiencies by challenging the status-quo, to achieve enhancements and efficiencies to existing processes, controls and procedures
• Oversight and review of annual audited financial statements in accordance with local accounting standards
• Liaising with internal & external auditors, tax advisors and external actuaries
• Ensure compliance with established Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements
• Provide local finance support in the annual HK budget preparation, forecasting and analyzing
• Support CFO (APAC) with HK and regional projects, budgeting/planning and/or in preparing regional reports as required
• Train and mentor junior members of the team

Requirements

• Fit and proper person in accordance with the HKIA requirements
• A qualified accountant with over 10 years of experience in insurance companies and / or insurance audit
• Experience in posting and reconciling journals in a general ledger system essential (Knowledge of SUN general ledger system is an advantage)
• Familiar with IFRS including working knowledge of IFRS17, some experience of US GAAP is preferable
• Good written and oral communication skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
• Team player with ability to meet tight reporting deadlines
• Highly computer literate, with advanced Excel skills
• Good analytical and problem solving skills
• Ambitious with appetite for career growth
• Continuously seeking improvement in operations and processes
