Job Description

Our client is a world's leading multinational technology company and now is looking for a global trade compliance specialist. This role is responsible for performing the day to day activities required to operate a fully effective import/export compliance program and operation, in order to ensure company compliance with U.S. regulations as well as other countries rules and regulations. This is an operational task-oriented position that collaborates with all departments in the supply chain to develop and execute trade-related processes and take all appropriate measures to establish and maintain an effective, risk-based trade compliance program within the Asia Pacific region. This is a direct report position to the Director, Global Trade Compliance in the U.S. 

 

GLOBAL TRADE COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST 

Job Responsibilities

  • Main focus of this job is processing licenses through an internal global tracking system; ensuring imports and exports of encryption products have consistent, accurate supporting documents from the system;
  • Oversee preparation submission, and administration of import and export licenses, agreements, and miscellaneous correspondence to government agencies;
  • Import/export programs are compliant and information and documents are communicated or provided to customers and service providers;
  • Oversight of "KYC" programs under applicable law and company policy for impacted products and determine and evaluate all "red flags" via restricted party screening;
  • Monitor Customs Compliance Manual- Document established processes and procedures for Import and Export operations and provide back-up for the operational environment between Global Trade Compliance & Logistics;
  • Apply harmonized tariff codes to imported merchandise as a centralized function supporting the company business units using reasonable care and transfer information to Product Database;
  • Ensures the clearance process for imports and exports are properly managed to avoid flags, risk and intervention from Customs and other government agencies;
  • Maintain a high level of robust, recordkeeping retention of Compliance records in the centralized Compliance folder;
  • Takes proactive steps to avoid the detainment of international shipments by communicating with service providers and creating required documentation to clear Customs;
  • Maintain knowledge on regulatory updates and proposed changes by taking on-line training courses, webinars, seminars and in-house training classes;
  • Team leader participation is implementing Global Trade Management System;
  • Work with Sales team to provide exceptional customer satisfaction on delivery of products;
  • Takes on additional projects as requested by Director, Global Trade Compliance.

Skills that would be considered an advantage:

  • Practical experience processing licenses for encryption products
  • Experience in Customs Compliance in the electronics & telecommunications industry
  • Direct working experience with China and Hong Kong Customs
  • Fluent speaking of Cantonese and Mandarin
  • Understanding of U.S. ECCN in Category 5 Part I and II
