Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create and update the wine list in coordination with culinary team and Food & Beverage Manager
- Recommend food and wine pairings
- Advise guests on wines based on their personal tastes and food choices
- Inform guests about different varieties of wines and prices
- Ensure wines are served at the right temperature and within the proper glassware
- Store open bottles properly to maintain strong taste
- Manage Gourmet 10 wine section and ensure it is fully-stocked
- Train staff on available wines
- Negotiate purchase prices with vendors
- Ensure selling prices are right
- Organize wine tasting events and wine dinners
- Comply with all health and safety regulations
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years as Sommelier in hotels or private clubs
- WSET 3 qualification or above
- Ability to create tasteful food and wine pairings
- Understanding of the winemaking process
- Extensive knowledge of different wines and which regions produce each type
- Knowledge of vineyards and wineries
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Good command of spoken English and Cantonese
- Availability to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays
- Shift duties required
