Responsibilities

• Report to project manager/ lead systems architect and responsible for providing expert advice and technical support on storage and backup to the lead systems architect for the design and implementation of the project
• Participate and take the lead in design workshops and discussions with customers and other contractors during the implementation period to explain the design, analyse and propose options to facilitate the overall integration of a System
• Lead the Implementation Team members to plan and carry out system configuration, System Acceptance Test, system rollout, etc.
• Possess hands-on experience for various components of the centralised storage and backup infrastructure, including but not limited to, storage virtualization equipment, enterprise grade storage, storage area network, and backup and recovery solution.
• Support and maintain those storage and backup infrastructure components after implementation of the system
• Assist the bid team to propose the storage and backup design with required system software and hardware, and prepare technical proposals to respond the requirements of the tenders for bidding new projects
• Manage and communicate with different vendors, partners, and stakeholders
• Forecast work efforts required for each phase of a project, closely monitor the project schedule
• Timely report to project manager/ lead systems architect

Requirements

• a degree or above in computer science or equivalent;
• at least 8 years of post-qualification IT experience; and
• at least 4 years of IT experience that MUST covers the following areas:

(i)   Functional/ specialty experience in the design and/ or implementation of storage and backup infrastructures;

(ii)  Experience with Virtualization and SAN infrastructure design, implementation, and operation;

(iii) Experience on SAN (Such as IBM, Hitachi, HP 3PAR, EMC, NetApp, HDS, etc.,) and SAN switch (Such as IBM, Brocade, etc.,);

(iv) Experience in Backup solution (such as IBM Spectrum Protect, Veeam, Veritas, NetApp, etc.,);

(v)  Generating a set of acceptance test requirements, together with the test engineers and the users, which determine that all the high-level requirements have been met;

• Good knowledge of project management and SDLC standards will be an advantage
• Good knowledge and experience in Hypervisor, Unix, Linux and Windows platform
• Experience with one or more software products in each of the following categories:

(i)   San Storage and Switch: e.g. IBM, Hitachi, HP 3PAR, EMC, NetApp, HDS, Brocade, etc.;

(ii)  Virtualization Servers: e.g. IBM AIX, VMware, Hyper-V, etc.;

(iii) Backup solution: e.g. IBM Spectrum Protect, Veeam, Veritas, NetApp, Acronis;

(iv) Application servers: e.g. IBM WebSphere/ WebLogic/ JBoss;

(v)  Server virtualization: e.g. VMware/ IBM PowerVM/ Oracle VM/ Hyper-V.

• Experience with one or more hardware products in each of the following categories:

(i)   x86 servers, midrange servers: e.g. IBM AIX/ HP Unix/ Dell/ etc.;

(ii)  SAN storage, SAN switch, WORM: e.g. Dell/ NetApp/ HP 3PAR/ Hitachi/ IBM/ Brocade;

• Good communication, interpersonal and customer interaction skills
• Working experience in government projects, familiar with government implementation and maintenance methodologies and documentation standards is a plus
• Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese & Putonghua)
