We're looking for an Editorial Assistant to be part of a small creative team. Reporting to a senior copy editor, you will assist in the planning, writing and editing of print magazine articles, and also help create engaging content for print and social media for our clients from initial concept to launch. Responsibilities:

• Reporting to an editor and an account manager, and together liaising with the client on a daily basis.
• Provide administrative support to the team.
• Provide Photoshop support where necessary to the team and work on junior-level retouching.
• Carrying out research and preparation for features, interviews, photo shoots and video shoots.
• Helping the editorial team to field external communications with readers, interviewees, freelancers, vendors, etc.
• Transcribing interviews.
• Undertake ad-hoc translation tasks (Chinese to English and vice versa).
• Proofreading, subediting and fact-checking all copy.
• Producing accurate, well-written short copy.
• Taking in proof corrections and creating layout designs using Adobe InDesign.
• Video production: Assist in developing creative direction and storyboarding; co-ordinating and setting up interviews; organizing logistics; and communicating with team each step of the way.
• Video editing: Manipulate and edit film pieces; take a brief to grasp production team’s needs and specifications; input music, dialogues, graphics and effects; create rough and final cuts.
• Uploading text and images to a website using a content management system.
• Working with the custom media team to plan and execute custom media.
• Assist in collaboration with other disciplines including production companies, designers, photographers, copywriters and printers.
• Ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs and objectives.
• Familiarise with clients' products and services, the target audience and their competitors' activities.
• Provide useful thoughtful and constructive contributions to team meetings and conversations.

Requirements:

• Degree holder or above in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or related discipline from reputable university and at least 1 year of relevant experience, preferably major magazine publishing house.
• Have a positive and passionate approach with a can-do attitude.
• Excellent attention to detail, self-motivated, creative, and independent.
• Calm when meeting tough deadlines.
• Dependable with a strong sense of urgency.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English is a must.
• Good command of written and spoken Chinese.
• Produce clear and concise verbal and written communications.
• Meticulous planning and organizational skills.
• An interest in the world of business and finance.
• An unquenchable curiosity for finding out about media and content.
• Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and video editing software will be an advantage.
