Job Description

General Manager, South China (based in Hong Kong or Shenzhen)

 

Our client is a leading logistics orgnization, they offer an unique range of product and services and seek a driven experienced General Manager to join their regional team.

 

Geographical scope : Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Xiamen and Shenzhen

Reports to : Managing Director, Greater China & South Korea

 

 

Purpose of the Job:

The General Manager provides leadership and guidance to ensure the profit centers' profitability and growth in accordance with the group policy.

 

Principle Accountabilities:

1. Sales

  • Increase gross profit by actively pursuing new business compatible with the overall scope of the group service lines
  • Ensure the ongoing development and maintenance of main customer relationships

 

2. Management

  • Work closely with the operational and sales managers of the responsible entities to ensure the business unit is working at optimum capacity and efficiency
  • Take care of the recruitment, training and development of operational managers, salespeople and team members
  • Track and provide management with reporting on key issues

 

3. Business

  • Negotiate with suppliers (airlines and co-loaders)
  • Improve existing processes and implement new ones

 

4. Finance

  • Responsible for the financial process for the responsible entities, including submission of the annual budget, historic comparisons, variance reporting (actual vs budget)
  • Effectively monitor costs via systems currently used, and/ or work with appropriate staff to establish new systems of measurement
  • Routinely analyze receivables to ensure they are within acceptable limits

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor?s Degree holder or above in logistics, transportation or related disciplines
  • Minimum 10 years? experience in logistics and transportation industry, of which 3 years in managerial level
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English
  • Self-starter, able to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, with a keen eye for details
  • Strong quantitative and analytical thinking skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong focus on human resources management and business development in line with group policy
  • Team player
