Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts site analysis in term of accessibility, facilities and logistics planning
  • Builds, analyses and manages Critical Path Analysis for establishment construction program with critical milestones to ease subsequent control in relevant tender document
  • Defines and / or clarifies construction / technical scope and detailing execution / resources planning requirements in tender document under each work package
  • Identifies interfaces between contract packages and advises for appropriate adjustments to eliminate possible disputes from respective contractors / consultants
  • Take responsibilities for all construction aspects and takes a hands-on approach to anticipating and solving problems of recurring issues in an ongoing effort to minimize potential crisis
  • Integrates members of site team and provides strong leadership and management for knitting their efforts together towards the Employer’s predetermined productivity target
  • Advises long lead items and implements strategic approach to mitigate risks
  • Oversees contract administration for all development initiatives and takes constructive steps to mitigate time / cost implication so arising from changes
  • Reviews plans and drawings against approved brief on aesthetic, function and spatial requirements etc. across disciplines to identify discrepancies for timely corrective adjustments by relevant consultants / contractors
  • Standardizes and refines formats and processing flow of submittals from contractors and associated pertinent record on status of approval by respective consultants
  • Monitors contractors’ and suppliers’ performance to ensure high quality works / materials adherent to contracted standards
  • Recommend procurement of appropriate software to manage progress of building process
  • Alerts superior of any matters in a likelihood beyond his/her control
  • Keeps site records updated on real time manner to support contract administration and settlement of Final Accounts
  • Chairs all site meetings initiated by the Employer
  • Attends meetings organized by contractors and meetings for variations review
  • Reports to stakeholders on progress and quality
  • Facilitates post-construction reviews to cultivate a “Learning organization”
  • Plans, reviews and comments on site layout, site access, batching plant locations, tower cranes, material hoists, site office, central material store, safety and security measures, etc. including subsequent adjustments to cope with site progress
  • Establishes, reviews and comments on site management structure, subordinates’ duties, communication channel and document flow system including subsequent timely adjustments to suit site progress
  • Assigns deputies to carry out the duties alternately so as to ensure the site operation is under control at all-time even in his/her absence
  • Inspects site regularly to ensure proper progress and quality and to take timely adjustments and rectification encouraging optimal productivity
  • Reviews regularly the performance of site subcontractors and suppliers and take timely measure against potential damages
  • Ensures insurance policies, site organization and safety plans from contractors complying with contracted terms before mobilization
  • Checks and endorses progress and quality of payment applications from Contractors / Supplies
  • Attends meetings and inspections to validate variations or abortive works and follow up with any necessary actions
  • Investigates persistently for improvement opportunities and to motivate the innovation mind of the members in construction team
  • Implements and maintains persistently all necessary safety / security measures on site by respective contractors
  • Ensures all safety / security forms are properly filled in by the responsible parties of contractors to satisfy statutory requirements
  • Implements and maintains regular site safety / security audits
  • Leads and implements Quality Assurance Audit System

 

Skills Requirements and Working Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject
  • Possess relevant construction education or training
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in construction, in which 10 years in supervisory capacity
  • Strong leadership with capable technical and organizing power
  • Candidates with less experiences will be considered as Project Manager
  • Work based in Hong Kong and subject to relocation if necessary
