Our client is one of the world’s top global firms, with a reputation synonymous with quality and innovation in helping their clients think ahead and deliver solutions to complex legal and commercial challenges.  As the firm continues to grow and embrace change, they now seek a high calibre and strategic tax executive to join their Asia Pacific region.

This is a newly created role as an extension of the Group Tax function located in the UK.  As an integral member of the group team, and reporting directly to the Head of Tax in corporate headquarters, you will be responsible for:

• Representing the Asia Pacific region to give oversight to all tax risks and their impacts on the global tax position
• Work across multiple jurisdictions to understand, lead and work together with the business heads and CFOs to resolve and address tax issues
• Be involved in managing, updating and rolling out updates and new tax policies
• Work with local jurisdictions to ensure tax governance and risk management is consistent with the global framework

• Be involved in group level tax projects of an international nature, including strategically advising on relevant structures, complex cross-border issues, transfer pricing, VAT and withholding tax matters, treasury and capital impacts, M&A and expansion plans etc
• You will also be involved in innovation projects, rolling out digitalisation of systems to drive further efficiency for the tax function

To excel in this role, suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate:

• Qualified professional with a minimum of 8-12 years’ experience in a Big 4 firm and a globally recognised multinational corporation in an international tax capacity
• A strong technical ability in a varied range of tax matters, from compliance though to tax planning and advisory at a strategic level
• Broad exposure to multiple tax jurisdictions, not only across China and Asia but also in Europe, the US and Middle East
• Have strong communication skills and the executive gravitas to articulate effectively with senior level stakeholders and management at an international level
• A proven ability to understand, digest and problem solve complex matters, and be able to articulate a recommended approach to resolve
• Self sufficiency to build up a tax function for Asia Pacific and develop the policies and procedures for the region
