Job Description

Our client is a Global Asset Management company operating in over 10 offices with +1500 employees and head office in the US.  

 

A member of the Global Payroll team which consists of a small team of professionals responsible for managing the process of domestic and international payrolls, withholding and compliance, tax reporting, global mobility and system implementations, bespoke benefits and interdepartmental coordination with dependent teams. 

 

This role will also includes the development of processes and policies, overseeing their implementation and a complex compensation environment in order to proactively drive process effectiveness and efficiency with ability to perform in a dynamic, fast paced environment, and is able to react quickly to changing situations and circumstances.

 

The role

  • Working with local vendors to manage the payroll activities to ensure all processes are executed accurately and timely;
  • Ensure all payroll regulatory requirements are met and are in compliance with local regulatory agencies;
  • Initiate and promote continual process improvements within the payroll department and implement changes leading to best-practice operations from a global perspective;
  • Oversee payroll implementation in the support of new worldwide office openings;
  • Ensure that the payroll is compliant with local legal requirements with knowledge of existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, obtaining qualified opinions and advising management on needed actions;
  • Develop and maintain written departmental payroll policies and procedures;
  • Prepare payroll related accruals and reconciliations to the general ledger;
  • Communicate and implement pay policies and procedures in collaboration with the Human Resources, Tax, Accounting, and Legal Departments;
  • Provide excellent customer service by assessing customer needs, researching and resolving issues, and communicating outcomes to employees and managers;
  • Develop strong working relationships with other departments, external auditors, and payroll service providers;
  • Interpret payroll policies and government regulations for employees and management staff;
  • Ensure payroll balancing and system integrity;
  • Review and analyze balancing procedures to ensure accuracy of payroll data;
  • Plan and implements year-end payroll procedures;
  • Manage the offshore functions of the Department;
  • Review employee compensation, research, analyze, and resolve complex tax issues and ensure identification and resolution;
  • Assist in the preparation and development of various reports including those related to audits, compliance, and analysis;
  • Create and maintain log/tracking tools to monitor status of various processes;
  • Resolve issues before they escalate.

 

What’s required:

  • Candidates must have 8+ years of payroll (preferably with HK, JP, SG, TW & AU) experience;
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred, but other academic backgrounds will be considered;
  • Strong proficiency in computer skills/experience including the following: Microsoft Office 365, Advanced Excel skills with knowledge of VLOOKUP’s, sum ifs and pivot tables;
  • Skillful problem solver, resourceful, enjoys a fast-paced environment, and has strong attention to detail;
  • Aptitude for learning payroll in other countries as the company expands its international operations;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities;
  • Self-motivated, self-reliant, hands-on approach with superb relationship and customer management skills;
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and presentation;
  • Workday Financial Management system knowledge would be a plus.
