Job Description

 

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Business Development (BD) Manager, China is responsible for developing and maintaining an industrial customer base in the region to achieve the Company’s revenue goals.  

 

First and foremost, the BD Manager will be required to actively engage prospects and customers and drive relationships from first contact through recurrent purchasing while minimizing time through the funnel.  In addition, as companys primary ambassador in the region, the BD Manager will position the Company as a customer-focused, creative partner with an interest in cultivating business and strategic alliances.

 

The BD Manager will be responsible for representing The Company's products directly in China/Hong Kong.  Job performance will involve a variety of business development activities including lead generation and lead follow-up activities and new business and account development in order to generate interest in company’s products to an industrial customer base. In these accounts, the BD Manager will be responsible for the identification, development, technical guidance, and strategic growth of key business opportunities in the molecular diagnostic and commercial molecular biology markets for company’s products. In addition, job performance will require working with company’s  regional distributors to support sales of companys retail products to general laboratories. The BD Manager’s time will be focused on the personal engagement of customers, Key Opinion Leaders/ and government officials in order to drive awareness and growth of company’s business in the region.

 

The BD Manager will be responsible for reporting to The Company's senior management needs for marketing/technical support and other resources needed to ensure the sustained growth of the business, while providing feedback on new market opportunities to position company in the region.  Periodically, the BD Manager will be required to host Company CCO and other members of senior management on key customer visitation trips throughout the region.  

 

The Successful Applicant

 

Ideally, native of China, education and portion of work experience in USA, returned to China to continue career.

Understanding of both the research/diagnostic markets, in China/Hong Kong a must.

Willingness to travel within all geographic realms is a must.

 

Education and Experience

  • Ø  Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Life Science discipline (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biology) required (equivalent experience in lieu of advanced degree will be considered).   
  • Ø  5+ years' sales experience within the scientific tools industry in China.
  • Ø  Proven experience in promoting both molecular biology consumables and services within the business to business environment.
  • Ø  Field sales/sales management positions within Chinese molecular  diagnostics, DNA sequencing, or life science tools industry.
  • Ø  Established network of customer contacts within industrial molecular biology sector (DNA Sequencing, PCR Diagnostics, Clinical (molecular) testing labs).
  • Ø  Experience within a fast-growing, flexible sales and support infrastructure capable of keeping pace with rapidly scaling revenue and number of accounts.
  • Ø  Established ability to execute processes for pipeline management, forecasting, demand generation and sales best practices.
  • Ø  Understanding and experience with using support strategies to increase customer adoption and retention.
