Client Profile & Background:

Our Client is a leading processor, marketer and exporter of premium quality red meat.  One of the biggest exporters of Oceania, their annual turnover in China is appx. RMB 2.5 billion. With 7000 employees in peak season, our client operates in more than 60 location worldwide.

Ideal Profile:

The Sales Manager would ideally come from foreign invested Meat or commodity food Production and Distributor companies located in HK and mainland China, his/her communication skills and key account management skills are essential for the position.

Role Outline:

The Sales Manager based in our Hong Kong office will have responsibility for the commercial relationship with a select group of key customers alongside the HK based Manager – Hong Kong, Taiwan & mainland China.

He/she also will support the execution of the company sales strategy, surpass sales (financial) targets, manage sales channels, build on our positive brand/company reputation, deliver excellence in sales service and broaden and deepen relationships with our customers.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Management and execution of sales strategy
  • Develop market-based sales strategies and plans that support the overall business strategy
  • Support the current HK based Sales Manager with the HK/Taiwan & PRC customers
  • Support Dunedin based China Sales Managers & China Country Manager develop current customer relationships
  • Facilitate and champion the Yu Wan plan as we move towards a refocusing of customer relations towards the Shanghai office as part of the plan overall.
  • Strong business development capabilities, be able to analyses the relevant market data & sectors, identify and grasp key sales opportunities, and then develop short, medium & long-term sales plans.
  • Implement and report on achievement of sales strategies
  • Act as 2IC to the Manager Hong Kong, Taiwan and China 

Commercial skills

  • Monitor and report on and optimize product and market sales
  • Scenario test and pilot sales approaches as appropriate
  • Trade and close deals in real time.

 Establishment and development of excellent customer relationships

  • Develop and implement strategies to build presence in existing and new market channels
  • Refresh and build market strategies in current markets
  • Establish sustainable and successful long term relationships with key customers
  • Raise the Company’s profile throughout the red meat sector in China, through appropriate communication means, including trade shows, trade visits, and intense In-market visibility

 Leadership

  • Work collaboratively with peers to build a successful and sustainable market in their respective portfolios
  • Lead and contribute to the overall China strategy from a NZ & China perspective
  • Speak convincingly to trade and consumer groups, about the Brand, the Product(s) and the Company. Can pitch delivery to fit the target audience appropriately
  • Supports continuous improvement and sound sales and customer relationship practices across team
  • Drive financial and sales delivery performance in area of responsibility including planning, project management, and measurement and reporting.
  • Ensure appropriate records are produced, maintained and retained as required.

 Job Requirements:

  • An experienced Manager with a track record in the Chinese, Asian, NZ or international red meat sector preferably in a sales or marketing role.
  • Ideally be a fluent Cantonese & Mandarin speaker.
  • Fluent spoken and written English language skills – minimum business level
  • Impeachable integrity and trustworthiness aligned with SFF business practices and ethics
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant management discipline
  • Excellent customer relationship building and negotiation skills
  • Ability to lead, motivate and influence cross-functional teams
  • Good understanding of and affinity to the food sector broadly
  • Commercial acumen
  • Demonstrates excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Accurate and energetic approach to business success
  • Collaborative relationships

Reporting line and management evolvement:

  • Reports to Asian Regional Manager - Hong Kong, Taiwan & China
