Responsibilities:

Hands on support for the database requirements within 1^{st and 2nd line Production and Development support}

Excellent SQL skills

Define, document and maintain hardware specifications to support our business requirements

Database maintenance, management and enhancements

Database upgrades, tuning and capacity planning

Ownership of the deliveries for small to medium size projects

Ongoing evaluation and analysis of the database environments to provide optimum performance

To maintain market awareness of new products that could potentially offer improved value to the business

Liaison with appropriate application development representatives to optimise value to the business

To perform testing of third party software prior to release to the production environment

Provision of ‘on-call’ support in addition to the core on-site daily cover

Review third party applications and tools for suitability, measure them against our requirements, security and production standards. Manage any recommends made to change these tools/products to meet our standards and requirements

Define and review best practices (standards) for design (logical and physical)

Maintain good working relationships with RBSG IT

The candidate must be customer focused and have excellent communication and project management skills and be able to work in a dynamic, fast moving environment. A high degree of self-motivation and the ability to educate and enthuse other team members.

Should have strong procedural and process ethic.

Willing to work in shift.

Requirements:

Essential:

Extensive MSSQL RBDMS skills.

Installation, management and production support between SQL Server DBA exp of versions 2000/2005/2008

Strong platform skills, performance & tuning

Exp with SAN storage, clustered environments, replicated databases, DR planning and execution, etc.

Experience working within similar large corporate environments – particularly Finance

Strong grounding in support of Production System and success in delivering projects in a high pressure Business atmosphere

Desirable:

· ESX or other clustering products

· Networking (TCP/IP, DNS) experience

· Other DB product experience (Sybase, Oracle)

· SQL Server certification

· ITIL Certification
