Gilead Sciences, Inc. is seeking an Associate Director of International Tax, based in Hong Kong SAR. The position will report to the Director of International Tax in Foster City.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement US and local tax strategy for the Company’s expansion into Asia Pacific and Japan region
• Implement processes to provide efficiencies and flexibility as the company grows
• Manage tax compliance and provision for the Asian Pacific entities
• Manage Asian regional transfer pricing and cash repatriation
• Manage and recommend strategies for tax audits
• Monitor and model legislative developments in the Asian Pacific region and recommend appropriate courses of action

The successful candidate is someone with extensive, proven track record in managing the expansion, restructuring, as well as tax operations in the Asian Pacific region, specifically in the PRC and Japan. In addition to in-depth knowledge of the tax (income and indirect taxes) landscape in PRC and Japan, the candidate should have working knowledge of US international tax concepts such as, Subpart F, check the box, tax treaty analysis, IP migration and planning, transfer pricing, cross-border M&A, as well as broad understanding of tax landscape in other Asian Pacific countries.

• Self-motivated, quick learner with a positive ''can do'' attitude and solid professionalism
• Partner well with people at all levels within the organization
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Superb project management experience and ability to multi-task
• Ability to speak/read Chinese and/or Japanese preferred

CPA and Masters in Taxation preferred; US GAAP knowledge preferred
