Our client, an independent research company providing financial data to the alternative assets industry is currently seeking a Research analyst-Japanese Speaker

The Role:

The successful candidate will be taking responsibility for the research, input and quality of Asian (mainly Japanese) data. This role involves research, data collection and verification of data on deals and exits in the private equity/venture capital industry. The position will allow you to gain/deepen and expand your knowledge of venture capital and private equity investments in Asia, with focus on Japan market. The role provides an opportunity to make a key difference to the Hong Kong team and the wider company. Opportunities are also available to contribute towards the production data analysis users and the financial press as well as internal reports and publications.

Responsibilities:

• Daily tracking of news and conducting in-depth online research on private equity and venture capital deals
• Processing and inputting of deal information onto the online databases in a timely manner. Required to seek out and collect Asian data primarily written in Japanese and accurately input this into the databases in English.
• Reviewing large amounts of data from multiple sources
• Performing data quality assurance checks and sometimes liaising with team (s) in other offices to provide feedback on the quality of their output
• Communicating with fund managers via phone and email to obtain accurate information on their investments
• Performing statistical analysis using MS Excel and putting together reports for publications and client data requests
• Composing online profiles and occasionally provide input to reports and publications
• With experience, the candidate will be expected to be responsible for sections of the data and to become an expert in that research area

Key skills and attributes required:

• Native/Bilingual fluency in English and Japanese
• Education level - Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent)
• Excellent research abilities, able to demonstrate persistence, patience and a sharp eye for detail to successfully obtain valuable information
• A self-starter with proactive approach to dealing and a desire to deal with solutions
• An interest in the alternative assets and/or finance industry
• Enjoy working with numerical data and an analytical thinker
• A team player who can collaborate with colleagues across teams and offices but also has the ability, confidence and enthusiasm to work independently and take on a project
• Willing meet targets and quality standards
• Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; able to effectively communicate with high level executives via phone and email.
• 0 -1 year experience in a research-led environment, particularly working in a research capacity covering private equity / venture capital / M&A deals) but not essential.
• Fresh graduates are welcomed to apply.
