Job Description

The plant is a 550MW to 650MW combined cycle power plant at Black Point Power Station. D2 is the second of two new power units that CLP is installing to increase the power generated by gas fuel. The work, which is brownfield within the current power station site, includes a suitable cooling system. It is on reclaimed ground and will involve heavy civil works as well as the main power island works.

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager-Safety (Mega Project), the incumbent will be responsible for managing and supervising a team of safety and health practitioners in overseeing the safety, health and environmental aspects of the D2 project. Major responsibilities include:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic plans, procedures and guidelines with respect to Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) matters of the project to support the company’s policies and business plans;
  • Provide specialist advice and technical support on SHE initiatives and programs at various phases of the project development;
  • Identify, establish, propose and review strategies, plans and programs for improving SHE performance;
  • Establish network with Government and external bodies, including EPC contractors on all matters related to SHE of this project, and provide effective communication channels in the Company to ensure legal compliance;
  • Drive a value-driven safety culture across the team and among the contractors;
  • Provide leadership, supporting resources and coaching to the staff and contractors for enhancing their competencies and performance standards;

Requirements:

  • A recognized university degree, and a professional qualification in a related discipline;
  • About 10 years’ relevant experience, of which at least 4 years in managerial / supervisory role in managing infrastructural projects;
  • Profound knowledge and experience in safety, occupational health and environmental protection;
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, analytical and communication skills;
  • Self-initiated with the ability in recognizing and responding towards the changes in legislation, industrial practices, and social environment.
