Job Description
Summary
The Intern will assist the Financial & Strategic Planning Asia team, based in Hong Kong, in upgrading the tools used to carry out its various missions including the balance sheet monitoring,
the asset-liability risk management as well as the financial performance analysis. In doing so, the Intern will gain project-management experience while developing a solid understanding of the Financial and Strategic Steering function.
Key Responsibilities
1. Review and upgrade the tools used by the Financial and Strategic Steering team (70% time) to produce a large number of metrics, reports and presentation, in relation to:
- Performance measurement: profitability indicators used on various aggregated data (geography, coverage, business lines etc.),
- ALM monitoring: balance-sheet follow-up, liquidity / interest-rate / FX risk,
- Fund Transfer pricing: modelling of the internal pricing rules and resulting PNL redistribution equilibrium.
2. Review and upgrade the tools used by the Hong Kong Finance team (20% time) to monitor revenues / expenses / budget
3. Assist the Financial and Strategic Steering team in preparing the documents supporting the monthly Asia Liquidity Risk Committee (LRC) as well as the monthly Consolidated Financial
Results analysis (10%).
The Intern will mostly be working in project mode, identifying the teams needs/requirements, discussing solutions to improve the efficiency of the processes/tools (simpler, faster, more user-friendly
etc.).
The emphasis will be on migrating legacy excel files, into robust dedicated data-centric solutions (database, data visualization systems), while cutting the number of tools used, to allow
multi-dimensional data analysis.
The Intern should have experience managing at least one project with a strong IT-dimension, be it through an academic project, personal project or past internship experience. The intern should
have coding experience in at least one coding language. Knowledge of VBA, Access and/or Power BI would be a strong plus.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master degree candidates in Engineering or Finance
- Internship experience in Banking preferred, within ALM, Treasury, Finance is a plus
- Good coding skills/knowledge in at least one coding language
- Previous experience in coding/IT projects a must through academic work, previous internship and/or personal projects
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good presentation, communication, problem solving skills and a team player able to manage project with some autonomy
- A proactive learner and self-starter seeking continuous improvement in all job-related aspects
- Good written and oral English
