We are looking for an English-speaking Investment Research Assistant Intern for a 6 to 12 month internship in our Hong Kong office, to assist on asset management assignments. The candidate shall have a curious, open and flexible mind-set, and work independently from early-on. She/he will gain broad experience with various industry sectors. In each assignment, the candidate is encouraged to demonstrate a strong level of responsibility and ownership of work. Main assignments shall include:

She/he shall support the team in the end-to-end investment decision-making process.  This includes contributing to the establishment of investment opinions, analysis of potential investment solutions and monitoring and follow-up of such investments.

− Bottom-up micro analysis of potential investment ideas and specific investment solutions across asset classes: equity, fixed income, funds and hybrids, helping the team select new investments and monitor existing holdings;

− Synthesize information to write data-driven research and reports that aggregate multiple sources, make a recommendation and suggest an allocation;

− Analysis of industry trends in asset, wealth and portfolio management in sub-areas such as FinTech, InsurTech, RegTech, cyber-risk, blockchain, robo-advisory, payments, asset class correlations and fund flows;

− Support team in creation and revision of marketing materials including graphic design and data analysis with an eye to detail and cohesive visuals;

− Active role in improving / optimizing trading processes;

− Helping the team review fund documentation and manage transaction processes with fund administrators / counterparties;

− Develop a good understanding of CIGP’s operation workflow and assist the team in the daily operations related tasks including maintaining records and files for archive.

Deliverables:

− Production of regular and frequent investment memoranda and reports substantiating key findings of the conducted research and analysis in view of the investment decision process by CIGP’s Investment Committee and Research Working Group;

Present and summarize investment memoranda and recommendations at weekly Investment Committee meetings synthesizing key findings;

− Produce and maintain stock price target and bond cash flow analyses supporting recommendations.

Requirements:

− Academic concentration in accounting, finance and/or economics and international background (work and/or studies abroad) shall be favoured;

− Prior working experiences preferable in accounting, tax, financial or economic research, or investment strategy;

− Personal skills: curious, autonomous, proactive, observant, rational, methodical, ownership of work;

− IT skills: working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Power Point especially) is a must. Experience with Factset and Bloomberg will be favoured;

− Languages: full working proficiency (reading, writing, speaking and listening) in English. Additional language(s), is/are a plus;

− Experience in fixed income research and/or membership in school/university investment clubs is/are a plus;

− The candidate should hold a valid Hong Kong Permanent Resident Card or have a valid existing work or student visa for Hong Kong.
