Responsibilities:

The appointee will work in a team responsible for Data Centre Operations in Systems Infrastructure Services Section with the following duties:

• Operate and maintain computer systems and facilities in Central Computer Rooms;
• Evaluate, setup, perform tuning, upgrade or enhancement on various IT tools, such as monitoring, IT automation, backup and restore;
• Perform server operating system installation, hardening, patching, problem investigation and user support;
• Support of university cloud infrastructure on virtual machine (VM) migrations, storage migrations and resources re-assignments etc.
• Formulate workflows and/or scripts to support IT automation;
• Perform problem investigations, conduct corrective and preventive maintenance for IT system and data centre facilities;
• Work on roster shift beyond or outside normal office hours including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays as and when required;
• Provide after-office-hour standby/ emergency support duties as and when required; and
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office or his / her delegates.

Requirements:

• A recognised degree or higher diploma holder in Computer Science or engineering, Information Technology or a related disciplines;
• With one year and three years or above relevant working experience for degree holders and higher diploma holders respectively;
• Knowledge in server operating systems, virtualization and clustering, such as Linux and Windows Server, MS Hyper-V;  experience in IT automation and data centre operations will be an advantage;
• Be self-initiative, willing to learn and adopt of new knowledge and technologies;
• Be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and / or Putonghua).
