Purpose

Reporting to the Relationship Director, the Relationship Manager (RM) will manage relationships with Asia-based regional and global commercial partners and sponsors.

Relationship Management Responsibilities 

  • Take primary responsibility for managing day-to-day relationships with a number of sponsors/partners by ensuring that all parties fulfil their contractual rights obligations
  • Identify suitable promotional opportunities and integrate them into the annual budgeting process and consolidated promotional calendar
  • Engage with key partner stakeholders and build a business-oriented relationship to drive partnership value
  • Check and approve creative treatments and marketing materials in a timely manner to ensure campaign and distribution deadlines are achieved
  • Monitor performance at both campaign and partner level to ensure that acquisition, revenue and expense targets are met
  • Liaise with other MU departments/businesses to identify new promotional opportunities

Functional Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate consistent implementation of brand image across all promotional activity
  • Identify, source and manage purchase and distribution of premiums/incentives
  • Manage and develop market research activity
  • Monitor and report on competitor activity
  • Manage and co-ordinate customer data management and collection initiatives
  • Identify, co-ordinate and implement appropriate public relations initiatives
  • Co-ordinate departmental reporting
  • Manage operation of the player endorsement programme
  • Input to the exposure of partners on the MU web site
  • Monitor customer service standards and manage process for dealing with complaints

General Responsibilities

  • Keep abreast of any relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and codes of practice as they apply to partner promotions
  • Brief and manage the activities of advertising, market research, print/production and public relations agencies as required
  • Liaise with relevant internal departments including Conference and Catering, Merchandising, Media, and others to ensure an up-to-date appreciation of promotional opportunities for sponsors
  • Regularly meet and review with partners performance towards agreed targets and identify suitable activity to make up any performance shortfall
  • Ensure that senior management is regularly briefed on all major developments and initiatives concerning the partner relationships and promotional activities

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English and Mandarin
  • 3-5 years of successful track record in managing third party business relationships
  • Able to influence, persuade, innovate and lead change
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented individual
  • Comfortable handling own operational workload
  • Graduate level education
  • Knowledge of affinity marketing dynamics, preferably in a sports environment
  • Able to operate effectively as part of a small team
  • Marketing/business experience in China preferred
