Job Description
Purpose
You play a key role in sourcing new products to update our existing product ranges: chargers, cables, lighting. Reporting to the HK Manager, you will work very closely with the German Product Managers and Retail KAM to inspire and align product expectations. You will also liaise with the wider Hong Kong and European team as required to organise audits and product testing. The role requires frequent visits to trade shows, suppliers, factories and our German head office from time to time.
Responsibilities
- Conduct market research to scout new products, trends and sectoral development for promotional and continuous business. To this end, you will visit trade shows, vendors, factories and stores.
- Identify potential vendors for German retail market and liaise with internal teams to qualify and onboard the vendors.
- Create sample line-ups based on trends and targets identified together with the Product Managers and Retail KAM.
- Manage supplier relationships with your key partners.
- Ensure the communication on pricing, product specifications, quality requirements, and procurement arrangement.
- Follow-up key orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Create process strategy together with German headquarter for retail market.
Skills
- Minimum 2, better 3 years of experience in merchandising for the European retail market with a specialisation in consumer electronics such as chargers, cables, lighting.
- Practical knowledge of the applicable harmonised standards and directives.
- Professional, “can-do” attitude, able to manage and prioritise demanding workload & deadlines through strong organisational and time management skills.
- Logical approach to solving problems, with strong investigative skills, good attention to detail, able to analyse data, identify risk and implement effective solutions.
- Able to work with, and protect, confidential information.
- Self-motivated and hardworking, with a desire to learn and self-develop.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese; German skills a plus.
- Confident with MS Office, Outlook, Word & Excel.
- Willingness to travel to suppliers in Mainland China regularly.
