Key Responsibilities/Challenges

The onsite associate will support: a bulge-bracket European international investment bank’s economics team.

1. Track major economic indicators of Asian economies and analyze their impact on financial markets.

2. Understand inter-linkages between the macro indicators internal to the country as well as external.

3. Have a good knowledge of databases, handle big data, create charts, work on complicated excel based models and use various statistical methods of forecasting the same.

4. Create/work on econometric models.

5. Write reports, commentaries and compile news roundups.

6. Process clients requests.

7. Handle ad hoc research requests as per requirements.

Requirements:

1. Demonstrate good understanding of economics concepts and principles. That is, able to analyze data and their potential impact on the broader economy and financial markets. Also, good understanding of industrial organization, a big plus.

2. Proficiency in quantitative methods and computing skills required. Must demonstrate ability to handle big data, excel programming, and eviews.

3. Preferred knowledge of database tools: CEIC, Haver, Reuters, Bloomberg, and other financial databases; various central bank and statistical websites.

4. Demonstrate ability to write related reports and create presentations.

5. Mandarin language skills.

6. Good communication and interpersonal skills.

7. Degree in econometrics required.
