Job Description

To support the HKSAR Government’s policy of increasing the use of gas-fired power generation, CLP is actively pursuing new sources of gas supply. One potential source is the direct import of LNG through the development of the Hong Kong Offshore LNG Terminal Project, which plans to use a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (‘FSRU’), and it will be berthed at an offshore jetty, with subsea pipelines used to transport gas to end users/power plants.

Reporting directly to Construction Superintendent / Deputy Construction Superintendent, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural quality inspection activities in accordance with the Project Quality Plan;
  • Keep Site Quality Lead updated with status of structural quality issues and alert any potential quality problems in advance;
  • Perform witness inspections and monitor production processes including fabrication and site activities according to the required Plans;
  • Review, evaluate and endorse Contractor's and Suppliers’ quality records and ensure related accuracy and adequacy;
  • Witness acceptance tests and perform final quality check prior to acceptance of structural work, as appropriate;
  • Provide expertise to site team to avoid/resolve quality problems;
  • Monitor Suppliers’ and Contractor’s quality assurance and quality control activities.

 Requirements:

  • Higher Diploma in Construction related discipline or equivalent with at least 7 years of site construction experience; or a recognized degree in Construction related discipline with at least 5 years relevant experience;
  • Experience related to project scope, offshore structure inspection experience or minimum 3 years recent experience in structural inspection discipline and heavy marine lifting operation would be an advantage;
  • Familiar with steel jacket on site installation and steel pile driving on site or familiar with HK Steel Code of Practice, BS and BS EN standard on welding and acquire relevant qualification for BS and BD EN standard welding certificate would be advantage;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to work with different stakeholders;
  • Able to work independently and under pressure;
  • Willing to work under the offshore marine condition and work under shifts;
  • Excellent in the use of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in using company systems would be advantage;
  • Good written and spoken English and/ or Chinese. Proficient in Mandarin would be preferable;
  • Candidate with less experience will be considered for the position of Assistant Structural Inspector.
