Job Description

To help deliver existing engineering projects, SMEC’s Civil Infrastructure Group requires with IMMEDIATE effect the following staff:

Senior Hydraulics / Civil Engineer with bachelor’s / master’s degrees in engineering, or equivalent, and minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in design of infrastructure facilities, including hydraulic design and knowledge of local Hong Kong regulations and practice.

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Prepare planning, feasibility and detailed design for civil engineering works
  • Carry out hydraulic modelling, analysis and design
  • Drainage Impact Assessment (DIA) and Sewage Impact Assessment (SIA)
  • Stormwater drainage, including catchwaters, sewer pipe hydraulics, modelling and design
  • Flood mapping and risk assessment
  • Supervise and provide guidance to junior engineers
  • Attend design meetings, site meetings/inspections and all other project related meetings
  • Help to prepare fee proposals, technical bids and tender submissions

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • CEng in Civil Discipline with HKIE or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-CEng civil engineering design experience
  • Familiar with latest design standards/codes; local regulations and practice; and familiarity with government departments and procedures for approvals
  • Experienced in hydraulic modelling (e.g. InfoWorks, CORMIX, HEC-RAS, MIKE, etc.)
