Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and create policies and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant regulatory and company requirements for intermediaries
  • Identify new regulatory changes affecting intermediary operations, potential gaps, risk areas, advise on relevant impact and recommend appropriate measures to be taken to comply
  • Provide training to intermediaries on regulatory obligations in relation to insurance sales practices, activities, intermediary and market conduct
  • Investigate complaints related to intermediary conduct and recommend appropriate disciplinary action. Assist in resolving insurance-related distribution or sales complaints and keep records of such complaints
  • Facilitate the effective implementation of QBE Intermediary Management Framework and update the guidelines, where relevant
  • Review and monitor intermediary sales advisory and market conduct activities and proactively conduct quality assurance review of field sales practices to identify compliance risks and recommend timely risk-mitigating actions
  • Review and drafting of compliance communication and training material and conduct training to intermediaries and business units
  • Communicate with relevant distribution channels and personnel to ensure awareness of regulatory and company requirements, procedures, policies, changes and practices. And provide sound and practical advice to the business units in practices related to the intermediary function
  • Ensure intermediary contractual and commercial obligations are met and that all relationships are successfully designed, managed and governed
  • Point-of-contact for Distribution in relation to all complex third-party relationships to ensure all service issues and complaints are identified and acted upon
  • Liaise with 2nd line of defence stakeholders such as Compliance and Risk units where issue incidents require escalation
  • Perform regular audits of branches and channels on records, reports, operating practices, sales transactions and documentation
  • Prepare various risk and compliance reporting relating to Intermediaries and assist in compliance related projects as required
  • Review insurance sales advertisements and marketing materials by intermediaries for company compliance

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in law, Finance or Business-related discipline preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in similar roles
  • Possess sound knowledge of life and general insurance products, and the relevant local regulations
  • Extensive knowledge about insurance regulations concerning sales practices, customer disclosures, commissions sharing arrangement, licensing as well as industry-specific practices, procedures, terminology and administration
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with sales personnel on routine examinations, enforcement actions and investigations
  • Excellent communications skills; both written and oral; ability to effectively analyse complex situations, absorb large amounts of information, and apply past experience and judgment to resolve issues timely
  • Ability to work independently, and with little direct supervision
