Duties:

The appointee will work on the development of chemical additives for asphalt / rubber asphalt mixtures. He/she will work in a dynamic team which responsible for:

• Design, synthetize and fabricate chemical additives, and apply the additives into asphalt binder and mixture and to evaluate the performance;
• Optimization of rubber asphalt mixture formulations for potential scale-up processes;
• Characterization and testing of durability performance of rubber asphalt mixture;
• Support scale up and commercialization of all R&D results for industrial partners;
• Prepare technical reports and presentations in timely manner;
• Ensure all deliverables meet project timelines and milestones;
• Support the incubation of ideas to explore new cooperation opportunities with industrial partners; and
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

Requirements: 

• University degree in Material Chemistry related field, preferably with specialization in synthetize, surface treatment and characterization, and/or chemistry, and/or polymer science, and/or organometallic chemistry;
• Postdoctoral research experience preferred while fresh PhD graduate will also be considered;
• Prior experiences on additives development for construction material is an added advantage;
• Solid hands-on experiences in laboratory and work; experience in supporting scale-up process is an added advantage;
• Competent in technical writing and reporting;
• Ability to initiate and work independently;
• A good team player with strong problem-solving and communications skills; creative in generating/incubating new ideas;
• Adaptable to different technology areas and having a proactive growth mindset;
• Fluent in spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese); ability to speak Mandarin is an advantage; and
• Candidates with less experience will be considered as Engineer.
