Job Description

Role: A hands-on, full-time role to assist the project manager to oversee the development of the Jockey Club Nature Conservation Centre at KFBG, Tai Po, ensuring that KFBGC’s interests are protected and the project is completed in a timely and efficient manner, within budget.

Project basics: HKD165 million budget. Internal floor area 1,635 sqm, external floor area 2,491 sqm. innovative design on 5 levels. Site works include site formation, excavation & lateral support, foundation, super-structural, building services installations, interior fitting-out and infrastructure improvement works. Planned occupation date Nov 2021, followed by demolition of the old building.

Responsibilities
To assist the Project Manager to:

  • Ensure that all project components are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Collaborate with our consultants and users to determine requirements
  • Ensure no adverse environmental impact occurs
  • Develop project scopes and objectives with all relevant stakeholders, ensuring technical feasibility
  • Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases in conjunction with the consultants
  • Determine, on behalf of KFBGC, the needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
  • Manage and coordinate internal direct reports
  • Cooperate with the KFBG Facilities Management Department to integrate the new building with the existing site and operations (e.g. existing services including I.T. infrastructure, and Waste Water Wetland.)
  • Measure project performance on behalf of KFBG in schedule, cost, and specification using appropriate systems, tools and techniques, gain support and put pressure where needed
  • Prepare regular project progress report to the Executive Director (E.D.), KFBG
  • Manage the relationships with consultants, contractors, management, authorities, funder and all other stakeholders
  • Perform risk management and monitoring to minimize project risks, including safety risks
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach optimal agreements
  • Ensure the obtaining of necessary permits and licenses from appropriate authorities

Requirements

  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of KFBGC
  • A Building Surveyor, Building Services Engineer or Project Manager by training
  • Degree and professional qualification in a relevant field
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and time-management
  • At least 10 years’ experience in building project management
  • In-depth knowledge in construction procedures, details, materials and project management
  • Familiarity with quality, environmental, health and safety standards
  • Good command of English and preferably, but not necessarily, Cantonese
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • A good team player with strong leadership abilities
  • Valid Type I or II driving license is preferred
  • Experience in BEAM+ project procurement for Gold standard or above, an advantage
  • Open minded and recognizes the validity of all spiritual paths
