The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority is a statutory body established by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2008, responsible for developing the West Kowloon Cultural District.

M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Exhibition Design Detailer

The purpose of the Exhibition Design team is to carry out the highest international standards for museum planning and design for both permanent and temporary exhibitions at M+ Museum in West Kowloon Cultural District.  This position is a temporary appointment. Under the direction of the Senior Exhibition Designer, this position will work with the exhibition design and installation teams to produce final technical drawings for various projects in regards to gallery construction, exhibition furniture and displays as well as additional special projects in order to prepare for museum opening in Fall of 2020. With an exhibition space over 15,000 square meters, M+ Museum will be one of the largest and most visually exciting contemporary museums for art and visual culture anywhere in the world.

We are establishing a team of highly trained and professional exhibition designers. You will be expected to possess a vast understanding and experience of architectural or environmental design, preferably in museum or civic space. You must be flexible with deadlines and changing priorities and must be motivated to join a team committed to producing world-class exhibitions of quality and prominence. Working across multiple venues in Hong Kong and abroad, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of something unique; the birth of a new museum.

Period of employment: 6 months

Job Responsibilities:  

•          Using Auto-Cad and Sketchup, produce drawings of exhibition display furniture, including display cases, platforms, custom art display walls.
•          Under the direction of Exhibition Design team, produce detailed construction drawings and specifications.
•          Ensure that designed elements meet universal access needs and follow accessibility design specifications.
•          Work closely with Installation team on fabrication methods and materials.
•          Administering standardized design files, maintaining an organized archive of production files and helping to define standard operating procedures and workflows.
•          Attends regular meetings as needed.   

You should possess: 

•          An accredited ungraduate (or graduate) degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Industrial Design.
•          A minimum of 1-2 years of full-time experience creating technical drawings preferably in a museum, art gallery, cultural organization or civic related environments.
•          Proven experience and knowledge of technical drawings suitable for construction, architectural, joinery and museum display and furniture applications.
•          Proficiency with Autocad, Revit, Sketchup and Adobe Suite and designing in scale.
•          The ability to work autonomoously, meet critical deadlines and self start with minimal direction.
•          Confidence to convey ideas and information via written communications in a clear and concise manner and able to establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels;
•          The ability to liaise with stakeholders, use analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problems, identify and propose workable solutions to problems with creative ideas.
•          A current digital portfolio that conveys the above design requirements.
