Job Description

The service direction of Play Environment is to champion accessible, inclusive, playable and safe play space for all children. Playright is championing and supporting different initiatives include designing playable space & communities, transforming the 170 playgrounds in LCSD venues, long term play space planning standard and the advocate of Playful City in Hong Kong.  

 

This is a new role in Playright.  The incumbent will help to drive strategic play environment project using participatory and community engagement approach with different stakeholders. He/she will support to translate Playright vision into strategy and tactics to drive and inspire right based and solution focused approaches mindset and actions. This is a unique opportunity that integrates research, planning, execution, and ongoing collaboration into a critical role.

 

Job responsibilities:

  • Track local and global policy developments on child-friendly cities and communities with an initial focus on strategies and models for enhancing play provision and qualities of play in urban setting, and relevant social, political and economic developments that affects the children's right to play;
  • Plan and execute research projects on public playgrounds and playable space, including designing research proposal, recruiting participants, moderating focus group and in-depth interviews, compiling data and developing actionable recommendations for facilitating Playright's advocacy strategies;
  • Liaise internal departments and external stakeholders to understand research requirements and needs, identify and advise on potential areas of collaboration;
  • Create informative and digestive content including articles, website and social media content, reports and press release to promote play environment development and children participation;
  • Assist in documenting and evaluating consultancy projects and advocacy programmes;
  • Provide daily administrative support and other duties as assigned by supervisors when deemed necessary.

 

Requirements:

  • Recognized degree in social science, preferably an academic background in the urban studies or architectural studies;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in quantitative and qualitative research, policy analysis, and producing advocacy material;
  • Some experience in funding application, supporting awareness‐raising initiatives is an advantage;
  • Self-motivated, detail-minded with good interpersonal, communication and statistical analysis skills;
  • Strong research, program management, workshop facilitation and training skills preferred.
  • Fluency in Chinese and English, both written and verbal.
