We are looking for the high calibre candidate to fill the Assistant Manager, Research and Development in our Tuen Mun factory:

Position Summary

Reporting to Factory Manager, coordinate with Sales, Marketing, Procurement and Production teams to plan and develop new products to be launched in the market. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for conducting market research and keep abreast of market developments pertaining to new food and flavor technology within the industry to ensure the Company is up-to-date.  Based on market intelligence, internal production capabilities and cost considerations, the Assistant Manager will work together with Production, Sales, Marketing and Procurement teams to develop new products, to create new flavors and to enhance the quality of existing products in accordance with consumer preferences as well as Company directives to fortify brand awareness and bottom line strength.

Job Responsibilities

• Research and Product Development

-       Gather information on market trends and flavor technology

-       Present new ideas to corporate executives in order to gain permission to develop product lines in a timely manner

-       Prepare all relevant information pertaining to the creation of a new product, such as raw material needs, cost analysis, prototype timeline, etc.

-       Develop prototypes and refine according to assessment after each sampling session

-       Prepare reports on the various procedures that have been tried in order to eliminate methods that are unsuccessful

-       Oversee product development amongst a team of individuals.

-       Prepare a cost analysis on the development of a new product

-       Develop ways to improve or enhance consumables, develop new product and create new flavors of products based on market needs and customer’s preferences

-       Monitor (chemical compositions) consistency and compositional parameters that may lead to changes in products and manufacturing

-       Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Production and Procurement teams, to study the market trends, develop new product based on marketing intelligence and data analytics to gain a vision of what the customers want

-       Improve manufacturing processes and techniques after analyzing results of research and conduct testing products for flavor and nutrition and evaluate suitability for development and sale.

•  Technical Support

-       Extend beyond improving the flavor, taste, or nutritional value of our products, improve how a product is packaged, shipped, or stored.

-       Provide technical support on production issues, including processing procedures, preparation of ingredients and packaging processes to ensure the final products are safe and meet the required quality

-       Developing quality control and assurance procedures to ensure the safety, functionality, and style of the products that are produced.

-       Tackle problems encountered during processing and ingredients selection

 Skills Requirement

• Degree in Food Science and Technology/ Food and Nutrition Sciencesor related discipline
• At least 5 years' relevant experience in Food Science and or Product Development, in a supervisory level
• Prior experience in FMCG/ manufacturing and retail environment is essential
• Excellent spoken & written English
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Exceptionally analytical and strategic minded, combining excellent communications skills and the ability to serve as an effective project champion to internal and external stakeholders
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Chinese Word Processing and Data Processing
• Self-confident, pragmatic and proactive
• Is able to troubleshoot issues and determine the cause of a plan’s success or failure
• Keeps up to date with changes in the market and technology that would affect new product development
• Organized and Is able to meet deadlines
