Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off-site as necessary.
  • Provide support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
  • Continually monitors assets and ensure updates and patches are completed when necessary.
  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications per project or operational needs.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • 2–3 years of experience in complex systems design, programming and systems software, and support
  • Knowledge of: Operating systems; current equipment and technologies in use; Windows / Linux / Virtualization system administration, enterprise backup, and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring tools
  • Ability to plan, organize and document complex system to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies/procedures; communicate technical/complex information; perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively.
  • Windows Server Administration certifications
  • Experience in configuring and running Desktop, Server & Storage administration
  • Strong working knowledge of configuring and maintaining O365 administration and cloud infrastructure and virtual environments.
