Tinkerer is an creative design and education company that focuses on offering innovative and engaging assembly/craft products for children between 3-12 years old to explore and learn the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths around them. Through our own eCommerce platform, we offer a subscription service that delivers monthly a box of materials for the hands-on projects and educational magazine. In the development team, we have scientists, engineers and artists that constantly brainstorm and innovate together to bring out the best learning and making experiences for kids. We also work closely with parents and kids to test out the products and the assembly process.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop new ecommerce features and improve existing functionality
- Research and evaluate new web technology
- Contribute to the development of working practices
- Consult and advise on web technology across multiple departments
- Solve complex technical challenges
- Improve user experience for customers and colleagues
- Liaise with third parties
- Improve our underlying technology stack to ensure high performance, continuity and scalability
Key Skills
- Previous experience of commercial ecommerce
- Coding abilities in both procedural/global and Object-Oriented PHP
- Experience working with HTML, CSS, AJAX, JavaScript, jQuery
- Knowledge of JavaScript libraries advantageous
- Experience working with MySQL
- Strong understanding of website security
- Familiarity with online marketing practices
- A love of problem solving
