Job Description
1. Personalization engine for volunteer opportunities
Design and development of a personalization engine for Social Career's volunteer matching platform. The goal of this personalization engine is to maximise the re-engagement of Social Career's volunteers to increase their volunteer contribution through
the platform. The personalization engine should make use of machine learning and data analytics to suggest upcoming volunteer opportunities for each individual volunteer based on various factored but not limited to:
- volunteer's personal preferences for volunteer roles, target recipients, interests, skills etc.
- volunteer's time commitment in volunteering
- volunteering's historical
interaction with the platform, i.e. the type of volunteer jobs participated, location, time, etc.
The underlying algorithm for this personalization needs to be continuously developed, revised and fine-tuned in order to accommodate and include additional new parameters that might influence the engagement of a volunteer.
2. Categorization engine of volunteer opportunities to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals
Design and development of a categorization engine to automatically categorize all volunteer opportunities towards the 17 SDG based on its job post contents. Use NLP to understand the meaning of each volunteer job post and match them with the most relevant
SDGs.
Qualification:
- solid knowledge and experience in applied machine learning
- solid knowledge and experience in NLP or linguistics
- strong grounding in practical statistics
- capable of programming in at least one of the following languages: Python, C/C++/C#, R, MATLAB, Java
- Strong problem-solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication
- postgraduate degree in operational research, cognitive science, statistics, computer science, linguistics or similar discipline or experience
