Job Description
Responsibilities
Financial oversight
- Oversee annual budgets, lead variance report and analysis, performance tracking, and monthly financial forecasts
- Prepare cost benefit analysis for projects, proposals, and campaigns
- Be responsible for audit, tax returns, and other statutory report filings
- Maintain the register, files and records with due diligence
- Supervise and lead the financial management of fundraising transactions, including donations, memberships, campaigns
- Ensure compliance with the Registered Charity Status of Non-profit regulations with appropriate document management and communications with Government authorities as needed.
- Proactively review and implement Risk Management
Team development & efficiencies
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team to provide quality service to stakeholders
- Act as trusted partner for Leadership and Department Heads by bringing in-depth financial analytics to facilitate better decision-making
- Review and enhance operating procedures to improve the financial efficiency and sustainability of departments across the SPCA organization
- Champion Finance transformation to deliver optimized processes, including but not limited to adopting new systems and tools if needed
Requirements:
- 5-8 years of Finance & Accounting and/or audit experience, with 3+ year in middle management position
- Degree in finance/accounting or related discipline. CPA, Master Degree and/or comparable professional accounting qualification would be an asset
- Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP or other financial planning software
- Excellent reporting-writing and communication skills
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Independent, proactive with positive and hands-on attitude, and able to meet timelines
- Good command of both spoken and written English and Cantonese
- Genuine interest in the welfare of all animals
