The role
To support and assist the Science department in providing high quality teaching and learning within a primary and secondary school setting offering the IB curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials and apparatus for demonstrations and class practical lessons as requested by teachers;
• Prepare laboratories, materials and apparatus for practical assessments and examinations;
• Follow health and safety guidelines as appropriate;
• Clear away materials and apparatus after practical work;
• Maintain, clean and repair apparatus;
• Purchase apparatus, chemicals, materials and consumables in consultation with Head of Science;
• Store apparatus, chemicals and materials systemically following correct safety procedures;
• Keep a stock record;
• Ensure laboratories are maintained in a safe, tidy condition and are well stocked with consumable and standard items;
• Ensure preparation rooms are maintained in a safe, tidy condition;
• Assist teachers with class experiments and demonstrations;
• Work flexibly as part of a team; 
• Help with one-to-one teaching when appropriate; and
• Undertake other reasonable tasks as directed by Head of Science or equivalent.

Requirements

• Degree or Higher Diploma in appropriate discipline;
• Experience working in an international school setting is preferred;
• Strong knowledge and expertise in the use of relevant terms, laboratory equipment and tools;
• Strong knowledge in the procurement process of relevant materials, equipment and tools;
• Proficiency in MS Word and other relevant software;
• Attention to detail, patient and helpful;
• Collaborative and prepared to work as part of a team; and
• Good communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills with people with different backgrounds.
